A new study by NASSCOM and ICRIER estimates that every unit of artificial intelligence (AI) intensity can add $67.25 billion to the Indian economy.It forecasts that NITI Aayog’s AI program will increase AI intensity 1.3 times resulting in benefits of $87.77 billion.The study recommends five policy changes so that AI can get a foothold and reap the benefits.Just like the Internet and the steam engine that came before it, the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) can have huge benefits for the Indian economy. As AI gets more intense, total productivity of the economy can increase, according to a new study by NASSCOM and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). In fact, every unit increase in AI intensity can add $67.2 billion to the Indian economy.
